As part of the London department store Selfridges' Festival of Imagination that has been taking place over the past few weeks, Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas of OMA has created and designed an event space called the School of Imagination.
The Imaginarium is structured in the form of a circle-shaped amphitheater with individual cushions for the audience. The space was designed with functionality in mind, facilitating hosting of lectures, different activities and debates. The semicircle-inspired theater is built on wheels, where sections can be separated from one another and stuck together depending on the function. Holding up to 72 people, the structure can also be positioned to section off a space.
The translucent structure is made of polycarbonate, allowing light to shine through the installation.
