With a full HD transparent touchscreen display, the Sanden vending machine performs what the company refers to as "anonymous face recognition" -- an anonymous video analysis determines the buyer's attributes (male, female, young, old) so that advertising content and product suggestions can be tailored to the customer's demographic. When a customer is not present, the Sanden vending machine will display animation or a giant digital clock. Users can even access evacuation routes in the building in case of emergency.
As Mayumi Moribayashi of Okaya Electronics says in this video, the Sanden vending machine has many possibilities, including selling high-end goods like cosmetics and liquor.
