The ‘Safelet’ Sends Out Alerts When its Wearer Feels Threatened

Safelet is a security bracelet, designed by Dutch company Everfind, that sends out alerts whenever the wearer feels threatened or in danger. It is targeted towards women, who often face the threat of sexual harassment and violence. The bracelet, which looks like a stylish fashion accessory, doesn’t merely send out generic alerts, but provides important information to people on the receiving end of the alert.

Wearers first have to pair their Safelet bracelet with the accompanying app, which is compatible with both iOS and Android. They can then choose their preferred security level and select ‘guardians’ who will receive alerts.

When the wearer feels threatened, the simply click on a pair of buttons located on either side of the bracelet. This causes a message to be sent to the wearer’s guardians. An embedded microphone also begins recording audio, which can be relayed to police depending on the security level chosen.
