With the hopes of addressing the shortage of preschool education in remote areas, Crossboundaries — an architecture studio with offices in Beijing and Frankfurt, brings a dynamic design for a rural kindergarten to life.
The location of the project is Beisha which is China's Funing County. When designing the educational institution, Crossboundaries looked to arrange the space as a "miniature village." As a result, the layout boasts"a cluster of house-like structures." The square is a focal point of the arrangement and each unit is well-connected through "winding paths and raised walkways."
Creating a rural kindergarten with the topography of a village-like space is surely an interesting venture into the field. By establishing a fluid dynamic between the operating units of the preschool, Crossboundaries is able to offer a unique learning experience.
