Fissure-Like Wall Cabinets

The 'Rupture' Cabinet Looks Like It is Emerging from a Crack

Belgian designer Filip Janssens' Rupture cabinet is a set of custom shelving units that appear as though they're emerging from a fissure opening up in the wall. The cabinets come as a single solid volume with a flat front face, and the shelves themselves are dug backward into that face.

While the cabinet is functional, with as many shelving units as directed, it also has a touch of flashy decor that accentuates the design's inspiration. A few of the smaller shelves are covered in rippling stained glass the color of fire, making the cabinet look like a chasm that has opened up in the Earth's crust to reveal the magma underneath.

The cabinet can also be outfitted with targeted external LEDs to light up the objects it holds.
