The Japanese Wara Art Festival is a unique get together that encourages artists in the region to make use of the leftover rice straws by turning the raw material into breathtaking larger than life sculptures. These installations highlight various recognizable creatures including several prehistoric dinosaurs.
It's incredible to think how much rice straw is leftover a harvest that goes unused. To turn something deemed unusable into something beautiful, these elegant installations were constructured highlight the detailed shapes and structures of dinosaurs, snakes, ducks and even crabs.
All the installations were made with the help of students, locals and workers from the Musashino Art University in Tokyo that brought these creatures to life. The sculptures remain on display till late November every year.
