Vivian Beer’s (love that name) innovative and contemporary furniture designs will be on exhibit at the Philadelphia Wexler Gallery until the end of February 2009. Her self-described design process, "sophisticated daydreaming," is just that.
Garnering her inspiration from an eclectic cocktail of flags, clouds, tide, feathers, car fenders, corporate logos, and rodeo, the effects are apparent in the resulting expressions found in her free-flowing, sinuous pieces. Beer also describes her work as a "creature with a life of its own that can subtly transform the comfortable terrain of the domestic landscape."
In addition to her indoor and outdoor furniture, Beer has been commissioned for large outdoor installations, such as the "Filled with birds and beast" shown in the last picture.
