Retro Town-Wide Light Installations (UPDATE)

Beforelight Light Up the Streets of Athens

There has been a lot of bad news coming out of Greece in recent years what with the Eurozone being hit by an all consuming recession, so it’s great to see something positive coming from the beautiful nation. These retro light installations by Greek artist collective Beforelight brought a breath of fresh air to the streets of Athens. The artists invited residents of the town of Thessaloniki to donate their old lighting fixtures, which were then fixed and hung over the street in central Athens.

The twinkling retro lampshades and Chinese lanterns provided lighting for a big street party with live music that all the residents of the town were invited to. Kudos to the Beforelight team for the magical glow their retro light installations brought to the street and for bringing their community together in an innovative way.
