Green-Roofed Retail Centers

The Part-Dieu Commercial Retail Center will Focus on Biophilic Design

While malls are often touted as being some of the biggest offenders when it comes to design, the Part-Dieu Commercial Retail Center looks to break this mold. Situated in Lyon, France, the commercial center redevelopment adds a beautiful facade and public green spaces into the mix.

Retail has become a notion synonymous with modern culture. As such, shopping centers are a fixed member of the city landscape. The Part-Dieu Commercial Retail Center looks to maintain this notion, but increase the aesthetic appeal with design elements that are forward-thinking.

The shopping center is the design work of MVRDV that previously did work on the Markthal in Rotterdam as well as the Chongwenmen M-cube in Beijing. The implementation and completion of the shopping center is not yet known.
