The Red Cross 'Rapid Rescue' App Draws Help from First Aid Responders Nearby

These days there's an app for everything, but the Red Cross 'Rapid Rescue' app is not just a mindless game to play during your morning commute; it could potentially save lives.

Usually emergency responders are impossibly quick in getting to the scene of crisis, however, even a couple minutes could make a world of a difference. This is why the Red Cross has created a tool to draw on people who are first aid trained in the general population. As the person in need activates the app, first aid trained volunteers registered to the app and in a two kilometre radius are alerted -- whoever accepts the SOS call is shown the quickest route to the victim. The nearest hospitals are indicated as well.

Currently launching in Singapore, 'Rapid Rescue' could prove useful to other concentrated metropolises, like New York or London.
