Chromatic Child Hospitals

This Housing Unit for Kids with Cerebral Palsy Uses Rainbow Paneling

Hans Abaton architects redesigned the Esther Koplowitz Foundation housing unit for children with Cerebral Palsy, which now features rainbow paneling. The entire building was constructed in the 1950s, which had allowed it to become drab and in vital need of a facelift.

The Hans Abaton architects created a positive atmosphere by bringing bright colors of rainbow paneling to the otherwise colorless housing unit. Since the building is used for the bedrooms of the children, there was a certain desire to bring hopeful, uplifting and positive themes into the Esther Koplowitz Foundation's building.

The freshly updated facilities accumulate three storeys with an upper level for ten bedrooms, which overlook the street below. The whole building creates a "serrated facade and arranged in a spectrum ranging from bright yellow through red to dark green."
