Garth Britzman and Nebraska-Lincoln University students collaborated to create an amazingly vibrant rainbow art project called (POP)culture from hundreds of recycled pop bottles.
The (POP)culture project took 20 students approximately three weeks to assemble. Garth Britzman planned the entire rainbow art project using the 3D program Rhinoceros. To create (POP)culture, over 1,000 used pop bottles were filled two inches worth of blue, green and yellow colored water, attached to strings and hung at numerous different levels from a handmade arched wooden frame.
Because of the beveled bottoms of pop bottles, the colored water resemble five-petaled flowers dangling whimsically from the ceiling. The end result was a gigantic canopy of dangling rainbow-colored bottles. Each of the pop bottles were collected through the Nebraska-Lincoln University’s recycling program.
