Truncated Cabin Concepts

PV Cabin Looks as Though Its Been Sliced Off

Cabins often employ a familiar shape thanks to that form's simplicity, but PV Cabin manages to add deft complexity to that design. The remote cabin in Pinto, Chile, has a similar shape to rudimentary cabins, with a gabled roof and pine wood facade, but the building has a unique design that looks as though a third of the siding has been lopped off, giving it an appealing degree of asymmetry.

On the interior, PV Cabin is relatively minimal. Considering that it's located amid a rich system of hiking trails and natural beauty, the residents are unlikely to spend that much time inside at all. As such, Lorena Troncoso-Valencia, the architect behind the project, design PV Cabin to conserve space, with a lofted bedroom area and a hybrid kitchen/living area.
