This Public Art Installation Adds Character to a Medical Complex

A recently completed public art installation at the new McGill University Health Center in Montreal is a stunning illuminated structure. Created by artist Linda Covit, the large work is one of 11 art installations planned for the Center's new Glen site.

The largest of the eleven sculptures planned, the structure, titled 'Havre,' is circular and made up of curved strips of aluminum and then illuminated with LED projectors. Sitting at the entrance of the facility, 'Havre' is said to resemble interlocking hands, symbolic of the strong system of staff joining together for the betterment of the patients.

Including immersive art experiences in places of stress such as medical centers can help to create a relaxing and enriching environment, an important factor in the healing process.
