Prism-Seamed Photographs

Happy Red Fish Combines Sewing & Photography to Create Multihued Prism Ar

Amsterdam-based Happy red fish, a creative studio operated by the artist and designer Hagar Vardimon-van Heummen, has created a stunning multimedia prism art project.

The artist has taken various photographs of houses and human portraits and re-purposed them with various prisms sawn directly on the photos. This mixed-media art project contains the two art mediums, photography and sewing, which the artist Hagar Vardimon-van Heummen really enjoys and combines them in a meaningful pattern.

The woman portraits are instantaneously turned into geeky-looking super villian-like pictures that remind the viewer of old-school retro cartoon animations. In my personal favorite piece, the artist has also taken a monochromatic photograph of two children and has sawn an intricate, multi-hued prism cube on top of each kid's heads.
