Red Arches Were Installed at the Portuguese Presidential Residence

The Portuguese studio LIKEarchitects installed glowing red arches that straddle walkways, trees and bushes in the Portuguese presidential residence. The arches were part of an installation done by the studio earlier this year.

The instillation was named ‘Constell.ation’ and was comprised of glowing red arches scattered throughout the presidential gardens. The arches were made from red corrugated tubes and get their "glow" from the LED lights that fill them. Clusters of the arches litter the presidential residence and give the general public playful access to the gardens of the building that now functions as a museum.

Diago Aguiar of LIKEarchitects explains the arches give "visitors the opportunity to perambulate on the presidential gardens…offering an unusual experience of an illuminated marvelous world." The arches emphasized the existing routes throughout the gardens and also defined new ones.
