Philip Johnson's AT&T structure gained landmark status earlier this year as a valuable postmodern building example and, as a result, architectural firm Snøhetta had to revise its proposed plans for renovation. Instead of installing large panels of glass onto the building's facade — an action that surely will establish a strong relationship between exterior and interior, the studio opts in to "preserve and revitalize" the existing postmodern building instead.
Amid preparing the AT&T tower for large traffic, Snøhetta is planning on pushing walls to expand spaces and replacing the elevators with larger ones. One of the more design-friendly renovations that the architectural firm is attempting to execute is the installment of a large indoor garden in the postmodern building that will definitely inspire residents and visitors.
