Traditional interlock technology ignitions require drivers to sit in the driver's seat and try their hand at starting the vehicle. This, the companies argue, tempts the driver to drive, so the new portable breathalyzer would cut them off from the idea before even entering the vehicle.
The device would be about the size of a smartphone and is currently in prototyping phases now with hopes to release it commercially in the near future.
