Lorcan O'Herlihy Receives Third Place for the Port of Kinmen

When it comes to port architecture, the Port of Kinmen has certainly received some world-renown submissions. The winning design ultimately went to Junya Ishigami, with Lorcan O'Herlihy coming in third place with its nature-infused plan.

The architecture company wanted to take the port's natural surroundings and infuse them into the overall design of the building. As such, the proposal featured a park running through the service center, allowing passengers to find time to relax before hopping on board.

The design features triangular shapes that make up most of the buildings construction. As a results everything is very geometric, with very few curved angles throughout. While the design won't come to fruition, hopefully it will provide inspiration for another project by the firm. Photo Credits: designboom, loharchitects
