Iva Dinulovic's Ponderlon Lamp Relies on the Push and Pull of Materials

The Ponderlon lamp is inspired by simple observations of nearby construction sites and the like, noting the use of everyday physics that often go unnoticed as we go through our daily routines. A basic floor light fixture, the Ponderlon lamp is a result of combining different elements to obtain a unique form.

Conceived and created by Iva Dinulovic, the Ponderlon lamp is made out of materials of pine, rope, card and steel weights that interacts in ways that ensure a practical yet pleasing design. According to the designer, "the amount of tension in the rope as well as the angle and the distance between heavy weights and a central piece of wood" control the lamp. Thus physics comes into play.
