The Plof Bench Contains the Color and Excitement of Material Reuse

The art of recycling old material need not result in sad repurposing with the look of dull browns, as Plof by Design Atelier Belge playfully demonstrates. It asserts an overpowering presence in all of its spectral splendor as a visually stimulating object with a robust physical presence.

The whimsical piece was conceived by Pim Van Eijck, Oskar Vermeylen, Yves Verhaegen and Vincent Welleman of Belgium and it illustrates an ingenuous method of creating furniture. The process of design and manufacturing differs greatly from the production of new upholstered furnishings, requiring the acquisition, the preparation and the clever handling of old shredded textiles. Plof by Design Atelier Belge is finished in a bold contemporary way. With a transparent PE plastic cover and cute tufting buttons, the rectangular sofa has a surprising sense of class.
