Although the Pinsofa 1 could easily appeal to anyone, it seems to have been designed with seamstresses in mind. As its name gives away, the backrest is made up of giant ball-ended pins like those typical in sewing and alterations. Of course, since they are made out of wood rather than metal, the back of the Pinsofa 1 could also be mistaken for enlarged toothpicks.
Designed by Demeter Fogarasi during a project called The New Textile Furniture at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design, the Pinsofa 1 is subtly abstract and entirely modern. The Hungarian designer writes, "My main idea was to have a playful concept, what refers to the inner child in every one of us. Enlarged object by themselves generate the feeling of being little as children."
