Pianos That Literally Rock

The Chichi

This beautiful wooden creation was designed by Sarah Davenport of Davenport Designers and Cabinetmakers in the UK. Sarah is pictured in the second photo. She was inspired to design the rocking instrument, named 'Chichi', after a trip to the design show in Milan. "I was frustrated with the lack of soul I found in the majority of designs whilst out there so I set out to create a design that could speak,” says Davenport.

The piano is now at Riverside College, Cronton campus in Halton UK. Performance tutor David Lloyd Motson said, "I'm ecstatic, it's unique. I've wanted a grand piano since I joined the college a year ago. But to be given one that is so visually appealing and great for performance studies is a real bonus."

I can see many popular pianists wanting one of their own, it seems they would love the concept of being able to literally 'rock' while performing, think Tori Amos or Elton John.
