This Photo Collection Celebrates Individuals Outside the Mainstream

'The Way We See It' is a new photo collection that comprises photographs by American photographer and writer Scot Sothern and the London-based photographer Muir Vidler. While the exact subjects focused in on by the two photographers may be different, there is something ties them together -- the depicted subjects are unique and live lives that only ever exist well beyond the fringes of the cultural mainstream, and who live in neighborhoods where individuality can be embraced.

Many of the photos obviously then end up focusing on ignored and disenfranchised segments of the population. However these people are depicted genuinely so as to project both their strengths and their flaws. Vidler's photos meanwhile are particularly good at challenging viewer's preconceived notions of certain types of individuals.

Ultimately, the 'The Way We See It' photo collection is all about challenging our perceptions of people who don't live in the mainstream.
