Smartphone-Inspired Televisions

The Philips VinTV Looks Like a Magnified iPhone on a Tripod

Apple's iPhone design is the perfect example of a clean and contemporary piece of electronic equipment and it has been seemingly appropriated here in the Philips VinTV. The flatscreen set incorporates smooth rounded corners, a thick black border and a single oversized button on the left hand side.

Like a smartphone that's been enlarged and oriented to landscape, the hi-tech piece of audio visual technology is perched upon a minimal tubular stand. It comprises three metal legs that splay outwards from a central point in the back of the TV. When viewed from the front, the silhouette bears a modernized yet distinct resemblance to vintage tripod-mounted entertainment units. Antonio Celestino's concept for the 29-inch LCD Philips VinTV is an alluring hybrid of nostalgic design and familiar 21st century sleekness and symbolism.
