Artist Peter Struycken has done a full scale revamp of the Netherlands Architecture Institute. Standing below the building is now his cascading rainbow installation, delivered to visitors via rows of colored canvases.
These canvases were previously 550-foot long columns. The converted space is now controlled by a computer program that changes the displayed shades every ten minutes. Lamps that shine red, blue, green and yellow are used in the process. And while these colors are primary, they are also blended into one another, giving way to varying tones. The layered effect makes it appear as if one is in an exceptionally artistic dream that continues to unfold as one walks throughout the Netherlands Architecture Institute space.
