Japan-based architect Shigeru Ban has recently created and designed the renderings for a new penthouse in New York to be fitted on top of a 132-year-old cast-iron building in Tribeca.
The new addition is inspired by Vierendeel Trusses, a white metal structure that features an angled canopy-like addition that will facilitate the interaction between the interior and exterior space, divided by large glass-paneled doors to create an open expansiveness to the overall interiors.
The iron clad building is now named 67 Franklin Street and will be lined up against the condo converted street. The building will be home to 11 duplex apartments that are fitted with double height living areas. The two penthouses at the top will consist of four bedrooms with a total of 3, 800 square feet with expansive interior spaces.
