The Party Wall is a Monument to a Place, an Event and a Practice

The Party Wall by CODA serves purposes that might not be immediately obvious to the observer. Sure, it is an installation due for erection at Long Island New York's MoMA PS1, but a deeper look must be taken to appreciate the beauty of its design, function and its message.

Caroline O’Donnell won the Young Architects Program and the opportunity to construct her colossal steel and lumber wall that will stand in the location of the 2013 Warm Up summer music festival. Large illuminated pillows can be seen in the structure at night, emitting intense color and light for a striking visual effect.

But the sustainable and practical qualities of the Party Wall by CODA are what make it particularly great. Comet Skateboards will donate their timber scraps for the brise-soleil facades of the installation and many of these can be removed to produce benches in the plaza as required.
