Parlour X has had a long history in Australia's fashion scene. After years at its previous location however, the brand took on a new challenge and converted St. Johns Church into its newest boutique. The church provides Parlour X with a much larger interior as well as a spot in the upscale Paddington neighborhood.
Because St.John's Church was heritage-listed, Parlour X did not have the option of reclaiming the space, but instead opted to preserve it. The entire interior of the church has been maintained, with a few glass-enclosed extensions built in the front facade to house a display area. Contemporary cabinets and display cases have also been added. Apart from being a retail space, the unique interplay of traditional architecture with modern apparel has made the building an attractive space for events and dinner parties.
