3D Olympic Logos

Rio De Janeiro's Summer Games Logo is the First 3D Design in Olympic History

Brazilian graphic designer Fred Gelli was responsible for creating the Olympic logo to represent this year's 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro and it's noteworthy as the first three-dimensional logo to be created in the history of the Olympic games.

The lively curving logo is shaped in such a way so that it looks as though three figures are holding hands. The design can be created as a physical 3D model, which makes it possible to bring a new dimension to the Olympic logo design.

Part of the challenge of creating this logo was sizing, with Gelli noting: "It has to be printed on a pen and at the same time it has to dress the whole city," as well as creating a design that could celebrate local culture, yet be understood universally.
