Ola Giertz Designs Comfortable Furniture Made With Humanoid Materials

There's been feather-stuffed seats and blow up chairs but the Blair Hair Project by Ola Giertz is an odd chair that's created using human hair.

These transparent ottomans are created with recycled PET bottles, which is then finished off by stuffing human hair into it. Giertz created this as an art project for Studio Västra Sandgatan, a high-end hair studio in Sweden. This idiosyncratic piece of furniture is definitely a hairy one.

The whole art project is based around finding the functionalities and endless possibilities to make 'ugly' work. The ottomans can come in a variety of shapes and colors depending on the type of hair available. While most hair salons will dispose hair and not think twice about reusing it, Ola Giertz has found a dynamic and functional way of repurposing human waste into avant-garde furniture that evokes interest.
