Mexico City Lets Citizens Contribute to the Official Constitution

Mexico City is turning the drafting of their official constitution over to the people in a show of digital democracy and offline crowdsourcing. The capital of Mexico is creating a crowdsourced constitution as a trial.

Citizens of Mexico City can contribute to the city's new constitution through an online platform called Plataforma Constitución CDMX. 9 million citizens are invited to help draft the city's constitution by making a comment on the first draft of the pending constitution, offer written proposals for the consideration of the public, take surveys to help form future drafts and organize formal meetings on the subject. Offline kiosks are also available throughout the city so others can contribute to the document.

However, citizen contributions do not legally have to be added to the final draft of the official constitution.
