Rooftop Bedroom Suites

Office of Architecture Maximized Space in a Narrow Brooklyn Home

It's no secret that space in New York City is at a premium, and Brooklyn-based studio Office of Architecture has helped a local family to make the most of the space available to them by renovating their row house. The home, designed for a family of four, features a rooftop suite that has all the amenities necessary for bedroom, adding extra space to the potentially crowded house.

The family's home is a row house, the narrow home layout common in NYC's outer boroughs. From an urban planning perspective, row houses are an efficient way to allocate living space, but from a personal perspective they can feel a little crowded. Rather than accepting the home layout, however, Office of Architecture decided to expand. There's no space to move outward, so the studio looked upward.
