Aquatic Nomadic Photography

This Nomad Photo Series is Both Stunningly Beautiful and Harsh

Showing us how traditional nomads in the Coral Triangle in Indonesia live, photographer James Morgan captures the lives of the Bajau Laut people in his nomad photo series.

The stunningly lush and aquatic series is both visually enthralling and harsh, as it documents the hardships of the fishing practices of the Bajau Laut (a nomadic tribe that lives their lives at sea). The London-based photographer spent six months with the traditionally nomadic people, which support their lives by fishing for income and food.

However, the modernized fish trade has caused the Bajau Laut problems and has forced them to employ harmful fishing methods. This nomad photo series shows how the Bajau's future is threatened, and so is the "largest and most diverse marine bio-region in the world," which they call home.
