Kinetic Commuter Light Installations

The New York High Line Features a Light Sculpture Suspension

The New York High Line is a raised park situation on a series of antiquated train tracks that many tourists and locals often visit. The bridge that spans the tracks was recently given an artistic makeover thanks to Interior Architects and Hyphen Labs. The walkway now features a series of mesmerizing LED lights suspended above that are part of a kinetic sculpture that moves and offers an interactive color experience for viewers.

The installation, fittingly dubbed Prismatic_NYC, is a collection of LED light strips that are suspended with 66 different moving parts. The lights are able to interpret weather data from the local area and transcribe the information into colorful and moving patterns. As tourists walk under the lights they can observe them change in movement and hue as the weather changes.
