Money-Based Game Makeovers

New Monopoly Token to be Chosen by Consumers

One of the iconic token designs in everyone's favorite never-ending property-trading game will be getting the boot in favor of one of five new designs -- that's right, a new Monopoly token is on its way.

The ubiquitous board game, which has used the same token design since the game's inception during 1930s, will be permanently retiring one token based on a fan vote. The vote will determine whether future Monopoly sets will be lacking one of the race car, battleship, thimble, wheelbarrow, iron, shoe, dog or top hat. Taking the place of the abandoned token will be one of a cat, guitar, helicopter, diamond ring or robot.

I've seen too many arguments come to a boil over who gets to play as the race car, so I suggest voting for that one for the simple reason of preventing pre-game fisticuffs.

Voters can pass over Go and collect $200 on the way to the Monopoly Facebook page to cast their vote.
