Zack Gorbly Puts on a Show at the National Yo-Yo Contest

Zack Gorbly recently stunned audiences with these complex tricks in the National Yo-Yo Contest.

As one of those obscure, speciality competitions, the National Yo-Yo Contest isn't exactly the Super Bowl, but that doesn't mean there isn't entertainment value.

The yo-yo is one of the oldest modern toys. It gained popularity in the 1920s and simply consists of a string tied to an axle that's connected to two disks. A popular childhood toy, the yo-yo is simple in design but allows for very complex tricks.

Popular yo-yo tricks are the "sleeper," which consists of the yo-yo hesitating at the bottom of the rope for an extended period of time. There is also "walk the dog" which uses backspin to roll the yo-yo along the floor as if the rope is a dog's leash.
