MyCityHall.ca is a Free, Open Source Web Tool by Open North

MyCityHall.ca is an innovative new web platform aimed at inspiring civic engagement and enabling citizens to become informed and apart of decision making processes on the municipal level. Headquartered in Montreal, Open North is a non-profit dedicated to building web tools to make democracy better.

Set to launch for residents in Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa in summer 2013, MyCityHall.ca aims to open up city hall for citizens, giving them an accessible means to provide real input into the decision-making process for services likely used by residents everyday. In turn, councillors will be able to engage residents in new ways, while activists can use it as a tool to mobilize supporters for the issues that matter most.

To fund this project, Open North is turning to the citizens themselves to fund it, launching the first crowdfunding campaign for Toronto on Indiegogo.com on February 19, 2013. Campaigns for Montreal and Ottawa will take place beginning the week of March 4 and late March, respectively.
