The MX3D Bridge is a Fully Functional Stainless Steel Bridge in Amsterdam

The MX3D Bridge is a fully functional stainless steel structure that was created with multi-axis 3D printing technology and industrial robots. The innovative design can be found in one of the oldest and most well-known canals in Amsterdam, the Oudezijds Achterburgwal.

Thanks to "intelligent software that transforms welding machines into 3D-printing robots," the company created a 40-foot structure entirely of stainless steel. The construction of the strong, complex and aesthetically interesting structure began back in 2017, a process that involved printing large parts in sections that could later be assembled as a whole.

Recently, the bridge was officially opened by the Queen of the Netherlands and robot Yumi. Now that it has been installed, the 3D-printed stainless steel bridge will be equipped with sensors so that researchers can collect data.
