These Montreal Street Lights Reinvent a Town

From December to Febuary, Montreal street lights are getting a a comic book make over. The winner of a contest, design firm Turn Me On has outfitted Mount Royal street in Montreal, Canada with street lamps shaped like comic book speech bubbles. The competition sought to create a unique winter atmosphere and conversation in the city. Each sign contains unique graphics created by artists Astro and Jean-Francois Poliquin.

These bright and colorful Montreal street lights pop out against the white and grey of the winter weather.  With images of angry shovellers, snow men, and hot poutine, the signs also bring much needed levity during the difficult winter season. The Installation runs through winter until the end of February and set to return for the next two years in the winter.
