Shunji Yamanaka from the University of Tokyo and Takayuki Furuta of the Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo) recently unveiled the 'RidRoid CanguRo' as a new robotic, three-wheel device that offers a look into the future of personal mobility vehicles.
The vehicle gets its name from the Italian word for kangaroo and is described as a "partner robot" that will never leave the side of its owner. As an assistive device, the RidRoid CanguRo helps to support one's physical abilities in a number of ways.
The robotic personal mobility device has the potential to be summoned via a smartphone and once a rider is comfortably seated on the vehicle they can intuitively lean left and right to steer. The RidRoid CanguRo is capable of reaching a leisurely maximum speed and offers a built-in system to provide haptic feedback on how fast one is traveling.
