Legatum Center at MIT

Now would-be entrepreneurs have a gathering place where they can exchange business ideas. The new Legatum Center at MIT is the result of a $50 million contribution from Legatum, an international investment group, to MIT, to create a fellowship for aspiring entrepreneurs, who seek to provide the ultrimate business solutions that "address deep-rooted problems in developing nations."

Both MIT and Legatum share a strong commitment to both making a difference in all countries in the developing world and technological innovation and entrepreneurship. On September 17 Legatum announced "a structured gift of $50 million to create a new center at MIT," a press release reported. "The establishment of the Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship will support aspiring entrepreneurs from the developing world who have a strong commitment to development entrepreneurship, helping them to acquire the knowledge and skills required for successful business development and civic leadership around the world."
