Purple Hand Beer and Salamandra by Minerva are the First "Queer Beers"

Mexican brewing company Minerva has been making news recently with their creation of the world's first gay beers. These honey-ales are more for just taste -- they are marketed to the gay population.

Minerva created two beers called Purple Hand Beer and Salamandra. The names play off gay themes and feature cool bottle packaging. Another unique attribute featured in the packaging is that the label on the beer bottles peel off and are meant to be worn as a symbol of gay-lesbian pride.

These first "queer beers" are set to debut in Japan, Mexico and Colombia, while many have reported already seeing it in restaurants and bars across Mexico.

This unique product deployment by Minerva breweries is their involvement in supporting the gay communities worldwide and hopes to make Minerva beers a choice for not just for same-sex couples, but for everyone.
