Contemporary Industrial Markets

This Mexico City Restaurant Features a Vertical Vegetable Garden

This Mexico City restaurant is designed like a market in order to encourage fluid interactions between patrons. Created to serve as a pinnacle of Mexican culinary excellence and a pillar of the community, the space was designed by Rojkind Arquitectos and conceptualized by Cadena and Associates Concept Design.

An interesting facet of the restaurant that also infuses the place with some much needed greenery is Mercado Roma's vertical vegetable garden, the produce from which is sold in the market.

The unique market space is spread across the first floor of an industrial building, playing host to 53 vending stalls. Seeking to reinterpret the traditional market space, Mercado Roma boasts a zig-zag pattern that lends itself to fluid movement among the stalls for customers.
