Nest-Like Meeting Rooms

Planet 3 Studios' New Meeting Room Resembles a Bird's Nest

Planet 3 Studios from Mumbai designed a wooden pod structure that resembles a birds nest to be used as a meeting room in a local sales office. The space provides a private meeting area and the design is influenced by the Baya weaver birds excellent nest making skills.

The frame is made from curved plywood structural beams that narrow as they reach the ceiling. The nest is then wrapped in strips of pine that were salvaged from the inside of shipping containers. The nest-like meeting room uses some artificial light but the small slits in the woven structure also allow natural light to flicker through. The design brings the calming reference of nature into the workplace while also serving a practical function.
