Tranquil Meditation Pavilions

The 'Meditation Pavilion' is in a Peaceful Park in Geneva

Located in a misty, forested park outside of Geneva, Switzerland, the Meditation Pavilion is a peaceful place that carries an aura of calm contemplation. Designed by Swiss architecture firm GMAA, the Meditation Pavilion is full of poetic touches that let occupants consider the vast complexities of the universe -- or just unwind after a long work week.

The pavilion sits at the surface of a reflection pool, seeming to hover just above the water. The vectors of both the length of the pool and the length of the Meditation Pavilion are oriented towards the precise cardinal directions, giving occupants an exact idea of their relation to the rest of the world.

The pavilion's interior is covered in dark wood and it has a raised platform and a dug-out trench. These topographical features encourage different modes of thought while meditating in the space.
