Randomized Meal Machines

In Japan, Diners May Now Have Meals Chosen for Them by Capsule Machines

Gachapon machines that dispense random toys in exchange for a few coins can be commonly found across Japan, but now the Nishiki Service Area Orisen is experimenting with offering meal machines.

In the same way that one would receive a small capsule filled with a toy from a gachapon machine, the service area in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture will now be using these machines as a way of dispensing hot meal tickets, which can be redeemed at the service station's food court.

To help people cut down on time on deciding what they should eat, the meal machine will decide for them, offering dishes like udon noodle bowls, curry rice sets and more. In addition to being novel, the meal machines offer significant discounts to consumers who are willing to take a risk.
