Marriage Proposal Resumes

Catherine Pelletier Likens Applying to the Right Job to Engagements

Catherine Pelletier, a designer based in Quebec, Canada, cleverly compares applying to the right job to asking the right girl for her hand in marriage with a marriage proposal resume. Going so far as to place a USB flash drive in a classy ring box that is accompanied by a little book that essentially woos her potential employer. It is not everyday that a prospective employee gets down on one knee.

Asking employers, "Will you hire me?," the marriage proposal resume displays her creativity as well as her skills. Pelletier writes, "I decided to present the cheesy, hopelessly romantic side of me by designing a tongue-in-cheek love letter/ marriage proposal like project that could be given to a potential employer. The goal of my work is to create intimacy with the viewer, and present myself as THE designer they’ve been looking for, THE ONE they need."
