Pencil-Based Vases

Amalgamated is a Series by Studio Markunpoika

Studio Markunpoika found inspiration in an unlikely source when designing its latest vases: pencils. The studio states that the objects are "inseparably fused with craft and arts, representing diverse relationships between artist and their creations." Hence, the team thought it was only fitting to create something like a household item from the pieces.

If one looks closely they can see the slight outline of the pencils embedded in the design of the vase. For example, one looks as if it was created with a blue pencil, as wood and this bluish hue run down the vase in a vertical manner. The main point that the artist is trying to challenge here is everyday objects, and how they can be used for varying purposes other than what they were originally intended for.
