The Manus x Machina Installation Transforms the Met in New York

While the gowns were the talk of the town -- or let's face it, the globe -- over the last couple of days, the Manus x Machina installation is impressive enough to trump the Met Gala celebrity sightings. It has transformed the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Robert Lehman Wing, creating an ethereal cathedral-like space that will encourage religious fashion experiences.

Designed by Shohei Shigematsu, partner at the New York office of Rem Koolhaas's Rotterdam-based firm, OMA, the Manus x Machina installation showcases a range of handmade and high-tech dressmaking techniques from the likes of Iris Van Herpen and Gareth Plugh to Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld. The spatial designs beautifully illustrates these incredible skills while letting people lose themselves in the wing in a more general sense.
